The Challenge
The owners of this 2-bedroom apartment in Al Majaz, Sharjah, are avid entertainers who love hosting friends and family. They wanted a home audio system that could fill their living and dining area with quality sound for gatherings, while also providing separate music in the bedrooms. Their existing portable Bluetooth speakers were insufficient — the sound was uneven, and switching between rooms meant disconnecting and reconnecting. They also wanted coordinated lighting that could set the mood without fiddling with multiple switches.
Our Approach
Multi-Room Audio
Four in-ceiling speakers were installed — two in the open-plan living and dining area, and one each in the master bedroom and guest bedroom. The system supports independent zone playback, so each room can stream different content, or all four speakers can be grouped for a unified sound experience during parties. The speakers connect to all major streaming services and can be controlled via smartphone or voice commands.
Smart Lighting Scenes
Six smart light switches were installed covering every lighting circuit in the apartment. We programmed scenes that pair lighting with audio:
- Movie Night — living room lights dim to 5%, hallway turns off, and the TV backlight activates
- Dinner Party — dining area set to warm 60% brightness, living room ambient, music starts on living room speakers
- Morning — bedroom lights gradually brighten, bedroom speaker plays a chosen playlist at low volume
- Goodnight — all lights fade off over 10 minutes, all audio stops
Each scene is accessible via a single tap on the wall panel, through the app, or by voice command.
Results
- Immersive audio in every room — even sound coverage from flush-mounted ceiling speakers
- 4 coordinated scenes — lighting and audio change together with one tap
- Independent zone control — different music in each room when needed
- Voice-activated — start music, change scenes, and adjust volume hands-free
- Clean installation — ceiling speakers are flush-mounted and barely visible
- 10 devices total — a focused setup that makes a big impact on daily living
